CHIC (mixed use complex)
Located in the outskirts of the Central Business District (CBD) in Nyarugenge District, the $30-million mixed use complex “CHIC” provides for business rentals, supermarkets, office space and entertainment spots, among others.The proposed design aspires to form a nexus of public activity by developing new civic, social, and recreational connections. Weaving together a complex mixed-use program specifically for various businesses including Offices, Shops for different commodities, Banks, Insurance Companies, Restaurants, Supermarkets and forex bureau etc.
Sustainability is a key driver in the design of the mixed use complex. Daylight-responsive lighting control through large open glass facades and open atriums cover with skylight glass. The building is naturally ventilated by stack and cross effects via the atriums. Hence reducing the energy consumption and increasing the users comfort while providing a healthy interior environment.
